Last Blog!!!!!
Hulu has recently been joined by yet another network. The Walt Disney Company, who is very possibly the biggest broadcasting companies that there are. This information became public this morning, April 30, 2009. This helps hulu because now they are able to broadcast for one of the largest networks, and the Walt Disney Company can get their presence known more over the internet. Disney wants to be able to reach the most people that they possibly can to get their programs out into the public to maybe tune in one day. According to the article hulu and Disney just want to be able to give the best quality of entertainment that they can.
In my opinion, now that Hulu has the Walt Disney Company hulu will be able to get the advertising that they want. As well as all the promotions they want because they are broadcasting all major networks, with the exception of CBS, programs online. It is also probably cheaper for the networks to broadcast this way also. I think that Hulu is going to be an unstoppable force that is changing the way networks broadcast altogether.

Article #4
The article I chose was mainly about the American Idol contestant Adam Lambert, and him publicly being gay. American Idol has been a hit broadcast since it first started 8 years ago. There has obviously been some controversy surrounding the outside of the show such as the Paula situation, contestants with nude photos on the internet, and now a contestant being openly gay. It raises the controversy of him possibly winning. At the same time controversy usually makes for good television. So people will continue to tune in to watch if Adam wins the title or not.
I chose this article because of more or less the target audience. Granted there are people in America that watch this show that have a disagreement about how Adam chooses to live his life. Whereas to other people it does not matter what his sexual orientation is. This topic is going to definitely effect the voting within the program, but American Idol will be receiving an overwhelming audience. It will end up doing good for Fox Network, and all of its advertisers.

Article Response #3
Skype which is an internet service is now being used as a broadcasting tool. Reason being is because it is a fast, easy, and cheap way to broadcast live shots. Skype is starting to turn into the new youtube. News stations have actually tried to using skype to help broadcast because skype is able to use USB and also able to be used through a firewire.
The reason why I chose this article is because it proves that as days go on technology is improving, and now more than ever broadcasting can truly be reached around the world just through the internet. In my opinion as improvements are made on broadcasting different things such as news and entertainment, the more people will be able to actually just broadcast themselves. The only downside I see happening is that more and more people might start to lose jobs because people might not watch or use the same technology so places will have to downsize.
I also believe that this will hurt advertisers because they won't be able to advertise via commercials because things such as skype and youtube would just be clips. So overall this hurts the economy along with working people.

Blog Posting Number 2
This article deal with programming over such devices as a mobile phone, and wifi. It also talks about what is going on in the world today as far as television programming and broadcasting. Television studios actually are trying to set up their own web based programming because the internet is becoming the new trend. The reason why studios are rushing to open their own web based programming is because their audiences are really taking to it and it makes life easier for the audience to watch the shows they want, when they want.
The reason why I chose this article is because the programming is basically about the way television is promoting itself by being able to put the episodes up online. This is a great idea for the audience but not as good the networks. It will be difficult for the networks to get their ratings, but it is a great promotional factor. Being able for them to put the episodes on the internet will be able to promote people to watch their shows.
Lastly, the book talks about target audience. Putting the episodes on the internet the viewer can just choose which show that they want to watch. They will be able to focus on the one program rather than have to wait for the program they want to come on. That way if someone wants to watch a show and it is only on while coming home from work or during work they will be able to just go to the internet and watch it. It is a great new idea for broadcasting.

First article
The Academy Awards took place last night, and though it had many winners the movie, Slumdog Millionaire, stole the show. The movie brought in eight oscars in. An expected win that made everyone extremely happy was for best supporting role in a movie went to Heath Ledger. It was an emotional night for all who was in attendance and it was certainly a night to remember. Especially for the cast and crew of Slumdog Millionaire.
The reason that I chose this article was because the Academy Awards is like the super bowl for actors and actresses. Millions of viewers tune into to watch to see if their favorite movie or actor wins the prominent Oscar. The Academy Awards was on the network ABC, and the ratings are definitely needed. Ratings are extremely important so to cover a story like the Academy Awards people are going to tune in and listen, or read about it to see who the winners are.
“Ratings exert powerful influences on programming decisions” (pg 47). When it comes to the Academy Awards they will have a large audience, which means large ratings. It is good for the network the show. It's a win win for everyone because everyone is then happy.
